We asked Emma some questions about her work passions, inspirations, and enjoyment activities. Learn more about her and how her relatability and authenticity supports her therapist self.
Q. What’s one value that guides your work and life?
A. One of my most important values in both work and life is connection. I believe that connection is something we all need to thrive in our lives, and this can come in so many forms (connection with friends and loved ones, connection to nature, connection to our meaningful activities). This is also so important for therapy. I believe the connection and therapeutic relationship between client and therapist to be most important.
Q. What’s one song, artist, or playlist that’s on repeat for you lately?
A. Lately, my favourite artist has been Marren Morris, and she has been on repeat. From country, to pop, to a ballad, she’s got it all!
Q. If you weren’t a therapist, what do you think you’d be doing instead?
A. If I weren’t a therapist, I think I would love to be a yoga or fitness instructor! Would be so fun to get all the benefits of exercise while at work!
Q. How do you practice self-care as a therapist?
A. I practice self-care in a variety of ways. Sometimes I will take a bubble bath and read a book, other days it looks like a walk with my family and dog. Other self-care strategies for me include using some mindfulness strategies, completing necessary chores, or holding myself accountable to an early bedtime!
