Clinic Owner, Registered Psychotherapist, Clinical Supervisor

Master of Arts, Registered Psychotherapist

I am the founder of Thrive Psychotherapy London! I started this practice in July 2022 to be able to provide a variety of relational and trauma informed services to the London community. Prior to private practice I worked within school and community mental health systems. When you are feeling stuck or disconnected from the life you want to lead, or your past is unresolved and is interrupting your current life, I hope to bring my warm presence, empathy, and genuine curiosity to help close the gap between where you are and where you want to be. This process can help you focus on moving forward and developing a deeper understanding of yourself. I work with clients who have experienced trauma or other overwhelming life stressors that impact their current life. I have specialized experience and immense passion for working with adults, adolescents, and families who have been dealing with life stressors and transitions, interpersonal challenges, difficulties from the past, and big emotions in the present. I create a warm, non-judgmental, and safe space for you to gain a deeper understanding of yourself, your feelings, behaviours, and experiences to find hope, peace, and healing in your life. I work collaboratively with my clients from a person-centered, trauma-informed approach. I draw from different therapies such as EMDR, attachment psychotherapy, internal family systems, emotion-focused family therapy and polyvagal therapy to create a custom intervention plan for each person I have the pleasure of working with. I bring all of me to this role, which extends beyond psychotherapist, business owner and supervisor. I am a partner, a pet owner, a lover of movement, an avid traveler, a connection seeker, happiest with good food, positive relationships, and laughter. I am always searching for the sun and continuously on my own path of self-discovery and growth. It is my hope that in working together, we can learn to thrive.

Master of Arts, Registered Psychotherapist

I am continuously inspired by my clients and have seen how motivated individuals can create meaningful change within themselves and their lives. I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of your healing journey as I know how hard it can be to do this work even when you truly desire change. I work with individuals and couples 18+ who feel as though something is preventing them from living their best and most authentic life. This may be difficulties with emotional regulation, substance use, feelings of anxiety and panic, unhealed trauma, or a pervasive feeling that something is just “not right”. For couples this could also be feelings of disconnection, patterns of conflict, difficulty communicating, or struggling to navigate challenging life circumstances. If this is you- my hope is to help you to feel as though you do not have to face these challenges alone. Therapy can help you to understand yourself and your patterns, improve your relationships, develop coping skills and new ways of managing difficulties, and to feel more grounded and in control of your life. As your therapist, my goal is to provide an environment that allows you to feel safe, respected, and validated while we embark on this collaborative work. My approach will be individualized to your concerns and unique characteristics, while pulling from the concepts and interventions found in Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness Based CBT, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, and Attachment Theory. It is important to feel as though you will be able to develop a strong therapeutic relationship with your therapist. This is why I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation for you to ask any questions you may have and explore whether you believe we would be a good fit. Reach out to set up a consultation or schedule an initial session!

Lalita Bains She/Her

Registered Psychotherapist, Clinical Supervisor

Master of Science, Registered Psychotherapist

My journey as a psychotherapist began in 2011 when I became a Foster Parent. Being a part of the system that can provide support in building relationships, offering containment, and empowering individuals, families and communities set me on a new path. I am passionate about working with children and youth, for 7 years I have offered counselling services within a school environment. My thought process that they be offered a space as an outlet, with a chance to be heard, build resilience and with the hope in their lifetime they have the tools to grow and thrive. I speak English, Punjabi, and Hindi and offer psychotherapy in all 3 languages! I understand, for some, the thought of attending therapy can bring about daunting feelings. In our time together, building a professional, and therapeutic relationship allows reflection upon your presenting concerns. As your psychotherapist I will assist you to explore your experiences, by providing a safe space for you to develop a greater understanding and awareness of these concerns. This allows you to consider choices to develop meaningful changes in your life and/or within yourself. The foundation of my work is through a person-centered, trauma-informed approach. I specialize in working with clients aged 5 to adults. Concerns I support include, but are not restricted to are anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, self-esteem, cultural and multicultural concerns, and further specialization in working with sexual and domestic violence. Therapeutic modalities I use in my work include EMDR, play therapy, CBT, solution-focused, person/child-centered, trauma-informed and psychodynamic. When useful, I work using spiritual grounds of meditation, mindfulness, and reiki. I recognize how every individual person is unique, as are their needs. Working in collaboration with you, ‘we’ consider the focus of your therapy.

Registered Social Worker

Master of Social Work, Registered Social Worker

I am a Registered Social Worker with nearly a decade of experience working alongside children, youth and adults embarking on their healing journeys. I have worked with many people during some of their most difficult life experiences and I am continuously inspired by the incredible skills and dedication to healing that individuals possess. I work from a strengths-based approach where I believe everyone has unique resources and strengths that assist them in their pathway to well-being, and I believe that you are the expert on your own life. At the same time, I am also aware that periods of life can feel chaotic, overwhelming, lonely, and exhausting, and no one should have to manage these things alone. I primarily work with youth and adults age 14+ and specialize in life stressors and transitions, trauma, emotion regulation, anxiety, and mood concerns. I view therapy as a space for strengthening your sense of self, improving your relationships, and gaining insight which can help inform the development of coping strategies that will work for you. Most importantly, therapy can help shed light on the strengths you already have. As a person-centered and trauma-informed therapist, it is my goal to create a compassionate, warm, and genuine therapeutic environment for you where you feel safe, supported, and respected. I draw from various approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), trauma specific therapies (Trauma-Focused CBT, Integrative Treatment of Complex Trauma [ITCT]), Narrative Therapy, skills and strategies from Dialectical Behaviour therapy (DBT), and attachment theory. I take a collaborative approach with clients, where we create an individualized plan focused on your goals. I would be honoured to work alongside you as you move towards living a life in line with your hopes, values, and preferences.

Office Manager

After completing my undergraduate degree in Psychology and Criminology at Western University, I continued my education in the Advanced Law Enforcement, Investigations & Security program at Fanshawe College. Ever since I was young, I have overindulged in shows, movies, and books related to true crime - fascinated by the overlap between psychology and behaviour. And, while I'm on this topic, my love for a Friends marathon cannot go unmentioned either! Contributing to my community is a heartfelt commitment of mine, reflected in my past volunteer work with Victim Services Middlesex London and my ongoing involvement with the Huron Perth Centre's Youth Justice Committee. Beyond my professional commitments, I'm deeply grateful for my fiancé, Ben, our two rescue dogs, cherished family, friends, and the joys of golf season! Through life's ups and downs, particularly in moments of grief, I find solace in this meaningful quote – "Grief, like love, is wild... ferocious... an untamed force. It refuses to be ignored or contained and it demands to be felt in its raw, unfiltered intensity. You have to honour it when it comes. [...] Don't make it go away, instead see it as a companion that will gentle every encounter and infuse all that you do with love. No one can tell you how to grieve, just like no one can tell you how to love." Dr. Saliha Afridi My warmest welcome goes out to current and future clients of Thrive. The inner work you will do guided by the values of our clinicians is individualized and unique to you, and there's something special to be said about that.

Thrive's Therapy Dog

I am a male, 3-year-old standard poodle! I have been training to help and support people since I was a little pup. I am hypoallergenic, which means I don’t trigger allergies or shed. I am a very loving, compassionate, and emotionally aware dog. I really love people, especially when they give me pets and scratches. My mom, Ashley, says I am a very happy, excited, and playful boy! If I am in session with you, I can sit close to you so that you can pet me, which can help you feel calm and grounded. I also can sit in my dog bed until you need me! I am constantly learning how I can help and be the best therapy dog I can be. Let my mom know if you want me to be in a session with you!
