Hey, I'm Lalita
I work collaboratively and take a client-centred approach, guiding individuals to deeply reflect on their experiences, build self-awareness, and align with their true selves.

A Little About Me
My journey as a psychotherapist began in 2011 when I became a Foster Parent. Being a part of the system that can provide support in building relationships, offering containment, and empowering individuals, families and communities set me on a new path. I am passionate about working with children and youth, and for 7 years I offered counselling services within a school environment. My thought process is that they be offered a space as an outlet, with a chance to be heard, build resilience, and with the hope that in their lifetime they have the tools to grow and thrive. I speak English, Punjabi, and Hindi and offer psychotherapy in all 3 languages!
I understand that, for some, the thought of attending therapy can bring about daunting feelings. In our time together, building a professional and therapeutic relationship allows reflection upon your presenting concerns. As your psychotherapist, I will assist you in exploring your experiences by providing a safe space for you to develop a greater understanding and awareness of these concerns. This allows you to consider choices to develop meaningful changes in your life and/or within yourself.
The foundation of my work is a person-centred, trauma-informed approach. I specialize in working with clients aged 5 to adults, supporting concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, self-esteem, and cultural and multicultural concerns, with further specialization in working with survivors of sexual and domestic violence.
Therapeutic modalities I use in my work include EMDR, play therapy, CBT, solution-focused, person/child-centred, trauma-informed, and psychodynamic approaches. When useful, I also work using spiritual grounds of meditation, mindfulness, and reiki. I recognize how every individual is unique, as are their needs. Working in collaboration with you, we consider the focus of your therapy together.
I'm driven by continuous learning and curiosity both in and out of work. Beyond my career, I enjoy exploring new cultures through travel and food, staying active through Pilates and swimming, and engaging my creative side through reading, art, and strategy board games.
